GLYCOL

Glycol is an organic compound of the alcohol family. Glycol has two hydroxyl groups (OH-), attached to different carbon atoms. The term is often applied to the simplest member of the family, ethylene glycol. Ethylene glycol (also called ethanediol) is a colorless, oily liquid with a sweet taste and mild odor. It is commercially obtained from ethylene oxide. Ethylene glycol is widely used as an antifreeze in automotive cooling systems and in the manufacture of man-made fibers, explosives, and brake fluid.
