Product Description
PPS (Polifenilen Sulfide)
PPS is an organic polymer consisting of aromatic rings connected to each other with sulphur. It is known that synthetic fibers and textile products obtained from this polymer are resistant to chemicals and temperatures up to 240°C. The hard and opaque PPS is used in the construction of filter fabrics, papermaking felts, electrical insulation, special membranes and gaskets for coal boilers. PPS (Polyphenylene Sulphite) is usually available as unfilled and reinforced with glass fiber together with mineral fiber up to the ratio of 65% (30-40%).
PPS (Polifenilen Sulfide) genellikle doldurulmamış, %65’e varan oranda mineral dolgu ile birlikte cam fiber ile güçlendirilmiş olarak (%30-40) mevcuttur.
Properties
• Continuous service temperature up to 240°C
• Short-time temperature resistance up to 270°C
• Flame retardant
• Very high chemical resistance (insoluble below 2000 C in all known solvents)
• Very high water absorption
• Very high creep resistance even at high temperatures
Creep tests show the behavior of a material under long-term stress under different conditions and help to select the best material for parts that are subject to long-term stress (especially at elevated temperatures). PPS (Polyphenylene Sulphite) exhibits very high creep resistance at high temperatures and therefore PPS is a material with a choice of many highly demanding applications.
Polyphenylene Sulfide is the material with the highest heat resistance among thermoplastics. Some reinforced PPS grades reach 2700C HDT (Thermal Bending Temperature).
PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) is flame retardant as an internal property. This shows that PPS is UL 94 V-0 accomplished and in some classes, even at 5VA, without any flame retardant contribution.
