Calcium Carbonate

Calcite is a common component of sedimentary rocks, mainly limestone, mostly composed of the shells of dead sea organisms. About 10% of sedimentary rocks are limestone. It is the primary mineral of metamorphic marble. It is used as a filling material in the production of pipes, cables and plastics and adds properties such as hardness and flexibility to the material it is used in. In paint production, it provides brightness as well as the consistency of the paint. Calcite, which has a very bright white color, is also used as a white pigment.
