It is a colorless or white, somewhat translucent, hard wax consisting of a mixture of solid straight-chain hydrocarbons with a melting point ranging from about 48°C to 70°C (120°F to 158°F). Paraffin wax is obtained from petroleum by waxing light lubricating oil stocks. Usage areas It is used in many sectors, especially in candles, wax paper, varnishes, cosmetics, rubber and rubber, medical and pharmaceutical products, building materials and electrical insulators. It helps to remove perfume from flowers, forms a basis for medicinal ointments and provides a waterproof coating for wood. In wood and paper matches, easily evaporating hydrocarbon fuel helps ignite the matchstick.
Liquid paraffin, also known as Russian mineral oil, is a highly refined mineral oil used in cosmetics and medicine. Cosmetic or medical liquid paraffin should not be confused with paraffin used as fuel. It is a transparent, colorless, almost odorless and oily liquid consisting of saturated hydrocarbons derived from petroleum. The term paraffinum perliquidum is sometimes used to denote light liquid paraffin, while the term paraffinum subliquidum is sometimes used to denote a thicker mineral oil. Usage areas Thanks to the paraffin used in the textile, the materials prevent water or air permeability. Thus, an effective insulation is provided. Paraffin is used in many areas of textile. For example, if we look at the use of paraffin in yarn; Paraffin provides lubricity to the yarn and reduces the friction coefficient of the yarn, thereby remedying the problems that may occur due to friction . A yarn with bad waxing, even if it is of high quality, will decrease in value as yarn, since problems will occur in the knitting process. Paraffin used in pharmacy; in liquid form, creams, ointments, suppository and constipation, etc. found in medicines. Apart from this, paraffin, which has low thermal conductivity due to its structure, is frequently used in the fields of physical therapy and medicine, as it is like an insulation material. Paraffin used in cosmetics increases the water resistance of the materials, makes them permanent and is evaluated in various ways. It is possible to come across paraffin in both beauty products and care products. The purpose of the use of paraffin in skin care products; clogging the pores on the skin, trapping the moisture in the skin, and thus making the skin soft without drying.
Vaseline, which is obtained from the mixture of various waxes with different properties and qualities, is a material offered to the use of customers after its color, odor and softness are improved by special processes. 100 - 160 mm/5 sec. in terms of penetration, taking into account the usage sector and climatic conditions. It has a feature between 50 - 60°C as a freezing point. Usage areas; It is used frequently and safely in the health, treatment, medicine, paper, mechanical and dental industries, especially in cosmetics companies. Raw petroleum jelly is a substance derived from petroleum products, typically found in a semi-solid form with a white or yellowish color. Skin Care: Raw petroleum jelly is commonly used for skincare purposes. It is particularly used to moisturize dry skin, protect the skin barrier, and heal irritated skin. It is often applied to dry hands, lips, feet, and other body areas. Wound Care: Raw petroleum jelly can be used in the treatment of minor wounds and cracks. By moisturizing the wound surface, it supports healing and can create a protective barrier. Baby Care: It can be safely used for sensitive baby skin. It is often used to prevent or treat diaper rash and other skin irritations in infants. Cosmetic Products: Raw petroleum jelly is included in the formulation of some cosmetic products. For example, it can be found in lip balms, body lotions, ointments, and makeup products to provide moisturizing and protective properties. Medical Uses: In some medical procedures, especially rectal examinations or lubricating medical devices, raw petroleum jelly is used. Industrial Uses: Raw petroleum jelly is used in industrial lubricants, greases, and some coating processes. Raw petroleum jelly is a versatile substance commonly used as a natural moisturizer and protectant.
Polyethylene wax (PE wax) is a high molecular weight form of polyethylene, typically resembling a wax-like substance found in nature. It is derived by breaking down the long molecular chains of polyethylene and finds numerous industrial applications. Features: Chemical Structure: Can be derived from low-density or high-density polyethylene molecules. Physical Properties: It appears as a white or yellowish powder or pellets, with a typically low melting point. Texture: It has a soft, sticky, and oily texture due to its high molecular weight. Solubility: Insoluble in water but can dissolve in organic solvents. Usage Areas: Plastics and Rubber Industry: Used as a lubricant, smoother, and release agent in processing plastics and rubber. Waxes and Printing Inks: Used in wax production and as an additive in printing inks. Paper Coatings: Enhances surface properties of paper and cardboard. Textile and Leather Industry: Improves water repellency in textile and leather products. Cosmetics: Found in skincare products, makeup, and depilatory products. Food Packaging: Commonly used in food packaging to prevent sticking and enhance resistance to external influences. These applications highlight the versatility and widespread use of polyethylene wax across various industries, particularly valued for its role as a lubricant in plastic and rubber processing and its diverse functional applications in different sectors.
